TUESDAY NIGHT'S, JUNE 27TH WASSUP ROCKERS SHOWCASE @ NACOTHEQUE...
Well, that's Wassup! Nacotheque had a Wassup Rockers showcase and release party this past Tues, June 27th. Both super strong stage presence, En La olla played first and Rabia played 2nd. Rabia's 20 year, baby faced drummer, Ian, was fucking great on the drums with super fast and creative beats. I was super excited to hear all their myspace songs live including Rabia's song, Zona De Guerra and En La Olla's songs, Algo Esta Mal and Attack! both bands brought Latino and Polish punk rockers out of the New York City cement cracks.
During Rabia's performance everyone kept yelling "Quita la camiseta!" (Take of the shirt), to the bands front man, Jose, haha! I've never seen them live before but I'm guessing he usually takes off his shirt and looks really uhm, hot?! When En La Olla performed their song, Attack, which is sung in English and Polish, EVERYONE went wild and jumped around on each other and singing into the mic w/ the bassist, Remi, and the rest of the band!
Rabia gave a shout out to Wassup Rockers and the fans screamed out "Wassup!!!", haha! http://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gif We gave out Wassup Rockers t-shirts and pins to everyone and ran out in about 30 min!
After the bands Marcelo, Robert, and I djed and Rabia stuck around to dance w/ the Nacotheque fans:) It was a great night and I went home that night at 3am w/ my ear drums still ringing from the punk rock show earlier in the night. Pince pendejo, Tuesday night was so much fun! You can see more pics of the bands here.
Short bios on the bands:
RABIA
myspace
Rabia started in the early summer of July 2004 with the name Noise Pollution, the most current line up consists of Jose (voc), Carlos (bass), Simon (guitar), Ian (drums), and Dave (guitar). They have played various punk squat houses including Squat Casa Del Sol in the Bronx and C Squat in Manhattan.
Their Lyric's reflect how they feel about Political situation's all around the world. They defend Animal Liberation and Enviromental issues (does that mean they don't eat meat or wear leather boots?). They say they want to bring back what "Street Punk" means, which is to think, to fight, and to Rebel while having fun.
EN LA OLLA
official website
myspace
From right here in New York Shitty, Latino punk rock band, En La Olla are Jose Luis vocals, Christian guitar/vocals, Remi bass/vocals, Adan drums. They sing in Castilian(Spanish) and Polish!! They say they are a project that people can listen to and where they can listen to the people. (not sure what that means but it sounds cool)
