SATURDAY DAY AND NIGHT...COMO FUE...
Saturday day at the Wassup Rockers Block Party was great w/ little skater kids entering contests to win $$, giveaways from Etnies, and Boost Mobile, all you could eat hot dogs, hamburgers, and steak shish kabob. I think I got sunburned even though I wore sunscreen and I kept drinking a lot of water since it was super hot that day.
At 5pm the bands started to play with about a hundred or so people and by the time the last band went on there was over 300 people there! I was so excited because this band was the one I booked, DEMENCIA ALCOHOLIKA, the latino punk rock band from New Jersey. They were so awesome, right on the dinero of what the Wassup Rockers was about. The band had a great time and said they had never played such a huge stage!
In between the bands Marcelo and I djed Latino punk rock and rock n' roll mostly from Mexico and Spain and the crowd loved it! The best part was that the music sounded very much like regular american punk and rock that a lot of people didn't even notice the lyrics were in Spanish, haha, mission accomplished (meaning music sung in Spanish can be just as awesome).
After the bands the stage was turned into a HUGE movie screen and lots of people came out for the Pre-screening! I thought the movie and music tracks were great the only thing that sorta ruined the momment was that every 15 minutes a gust of wind would blow through the crowd smelling like DIRTY, WET DOG! I thought it prolly was some squater punk's doggy who couldn't help but smell like that during a hot, muggy day of summer so I delt with it. Then after the movie Marcelo said he recognized the smell to be DEAD RATS! ewwwwwwwww!
When the block party was over I went home to drop off my computer and went straight back out to Williamsburg to go party! I first headed over to my friend Jorge's friends house party where we drank yummy Sangria by the mini cup loads and then went to my friend Joanna's house for a roof top bday party! So much fun that night, lots of good eats, drinks, and friends...
