MY BIRTHDAY PARTY WAS SO MUCH FUN!!
Tuesday night was a great success and I'm still buzzing from it:) Love or Perish was super punk rawk w/ funny spanish commentary in between songs calling the crowd "cavrones" and "putas". The chocolate cake was super yummy...especially when I was ordered to bite the cake after I blew out the candles (Mexican tradition) and then they tried to push my face in the cake but I woudn't let em' (also a Mexican tradition)!

The go-go dancers were being ga-ga'd by everyone and the Chupa chup lollipops were everyone's favorite oral fixation, haha. Oh yeah, and the Pampero Rum was delish, everyone loved it!! The way to drink Pamero is you take a slice of lime and dip half of it into coffee grinds and the other side in brown sugar, bite the lime and then take a shot of the rum.

Massimo's voice was perfectly raspy and Molly's drum beats went straight to your chest like someone wanting to beat down your door! Carlos was jumping around like a maniac w/ his hair all over the place, Maurix was just bein' his kewl self, Carlotta was bangin' out notes on the keyboard w/ her fire red hair, and Randy was just doin' his thang...BIG shout out to all of them for having their first show at Nacotheque!

I had a wonderful time dancing to Maurix and LoLo's dj sets and of course Marcelo always has a good poppy set to slam down for the night! Friends, chocolate cake, rock y pop en espanish, chupa chups, rum, and dancing = happy birthday amylulita!! You can see more party pics here!!

Spain Boosts Language Profile With Music

By Philip Dorsey Iglauer
Staff Reporter - The Korea Times

Students throng Korea University’s Inchon Memorial Hall to particpate in the “Feastival de Musica Latina” on Tuesday. Organizers said they hope the event would raise the profile of Spanish, and promote Latin culture in general.
Spain’s diplomatic mission in Seoul is promoting Koreans’ understanding of its culture through Latin music and Spanish.

The Spanish Embassy co-hosted the ``Festival De Musica Latina’’ on Tuesday at Korea University’s Inchon Memorial Hall with the university’s Spanish Language and Literature Department.

The event was presented by television personalities Kim Hyun-wook and Son Mi-na. The audience of about 2,000 enjoyed performances by Spanish and Korean pop bands, Latin dance and a taste of various other musical forms and genre.

``We wanted to be better involved with universities here in Korea to create a synergy and improve bilateral relations,’’ Jose Hornero, 1st secretary of cultural affairs at the embassy, said.

Hornero said relations between Spain and Korea can be enhanced through raising the profile of the Spanish language and Latin culture in general.

Diplomatic relations between Korea and the Spanish-speaking world have increased substantially over the past few years with a state visits by President Roh Moo-hyun in Mexico and key Central American countries last year and in Brazil in 2004.

Roh’s visit to South America signaled the growing importance of the Spanish-speaking world, especially in trade and investment opportunities throughout the region. Korea’s first free trade agreement was signed with Chile in 2004.

``There are few Latin cultural events of this kind in Korea and it is really necessary to raise the profile of Latin culture and language in Korea,’’ Hornero said.

He expects that such events will help the public gain awareness of the Spanish language and Latin culture. The embassy co-organized a similar event at Yonsei University on Thursday.

Many Korea University students lent a hand to help make the festival a success. ``The Spanish language is not very popular here and I wanted to do something about it,’’ said Kim Nam-ho, 28, a Spanish language major.

Today is my birthday party!!!!

LOVE OR PERISH - singing rock n' roll in english and spanish!
Molly - USA-(Simple Social Graces)

OPEN RUM BAR 10:30-11:30PM by PAMPERO

Friday, June 09, 2006

Today I feel like ranting... I used to think of myself as a late starter in the "music scene" whatever that supposedly is since there are SO MANY!
But then I realized that most of my friends had older brothers and sisters who helped them get started on their music history lessons way earlier. I'm the oldest of three in my family and my music history started off w/ my mom and dad listening to oldies from the US, Mexico, Spain and Brazil.

I started my own music exploration through my most favorite female singer, Bjork. I did tons of research on her from her child stardom at age 11 to her groups, KUKUL (Crass Records) and The Sugar Cubes. Then I got into David Bowie and everything he had done in the past and present. The weird part about it was I didn't get into Glam Rock, just him.

The things that I found interesting in these two artists in particular was that they started their own sort of world that revolved around music, fashion, lifestyle, and art. All the things that matter to me in my OWN way. (ie. Andy Warhol isn't too impressive to me...) I prefer Tamara De Lempika, Matthew Barney and Mark Ryden.

Through the lovely internet (myspace and blogs) I've been going to great lengths in exploring cyberspace in search of music that doesn't exist in the public eye or commercial record stores. Over the past three years, I've taken a fancy to multilingual pop, rock, new wave, and electropop. Bands like Stereo Total, Nancy's Rubias (Spain), Wir Sind Helden, Cristina, Los Flans, Los Flans (Columbia), Los Fresones Rebeldes (Spain), Alaska (Spain), Fantastic Plastic Machine (Japan), Pizzicato Five, and many, many, many more...

I even started a party, Le One Night Stand, that started off being all French Pop but ended up being an all multilingual pop and rock party in NYC. Then I started working w/ a new guy in town, Marcelo Cunning, on a new party called Nacotheque, an all Spanish-sung rock n' roll, pop, new wave, and electro night. I've been inspired to reach hirer and farther than anyone might believe is possible and at the same time I've become totally overwhelmed (in a good way)!! I had no idea there was sooooo much wonderful music out there beyond the world of English speaking lyrics!!

Recently, I've been looking up record labels who support music like this and the ones I've been keeping my eye on in the past year or so are Elefant Records (Spain), Nuevos Ricos (Mexio), and Solnze Records (Russia).

The band I'm listening to today...
Messer Chups, a Surf, Psychobilly, Lounge band that samples kewl horror flicks from Russia. (phew, that was long eh?)

Zoé - Mexican Britpop!- YES!! These boys are coming to NYC in August!!!!

zoetheband.com
myspace.com/zoetheband

My favorite songs: Dead, Via Lactea, and Love

Zoé's history begins in Mexico in 1994, just as one of the decade's most important music styles was appearing in the United Kingdom: Britpop. Mainly inspired by this movement, with slight influences from Seattle's grunge, Zoé would go through a period of changing line-ups and varying styles before stabilizing in 1997, with León Larregui (guitars and voice), Sergio Acosta (guitars), Beto Cabrera (drums), Ángel Mosqueda (bass), and Chucho Báez (keyboards). By this time, a clear influence from The Beatles can be perceived, alongside the mentioned brtipop and grunge stylings, and certain reminiscences to The Stone Roses and The Charlatans.

1998 - 2004
Facing a lack of spaces to showcase their music, Zoé relied upon self-organized concerts, the Internet, and a self-published demo. All of these efforts, plus a good deal of positive word of mouth helped them gain popularity in Spanish language radio stations in the USA. They signed their first recording contract in 1998, but nothing came of it, and once again they decided to rely on themselves. They released independently a "debut" album in 2000, which attracted the attention of Sony Music, who in turn took over distribution of the album. Some of the most popular songs from this recording were Asteroide and Miel.

In November 2003, Zoé launched their second album, produced by Phil Vinall, who had previously worked with the likes of Placebo, Elastica, and Pulp. This new album was titled Rocanlover, and the main singles were Peace & Love, Love, and Veneno. By this point, their musical style was clearly defined and easily recognizable, as was their style of mixing Spanish and English in their lyrics.

2004 - Present
Zoé went into a short hiatus during 2004, but returned to the music scene by mid-2005, when independent label Noiselab signed a recording contract with the band. New songs and a new EP (named The Room) have been produced. They have recorded some new songs fully in English, and some producers like Alan McGee have expressed interest in taking them to the UK and Europe.

Their popularity has been growing, and they're becoming more and more popular in their home country, as well as outside the alternative circles. Some of their songs have been playing in pop music stations in Mexico and the southwestern United States, and their new album is to come out July 12, 2006. They will be gracing New York City with their presence this August 2006!!!

Tony Borlotti e i suoi Flauers Italian 60's garage!

tonyborlottieisuoiflauers.it
myspace.com/tonyborlottieisuoiflauers

Tony Borlotti e i suoi Flauers was born in 1996, with the target to live again, with passion and irony, the course of most ramshackle Italian beat bands of the '60. Initially they were a coverband, then their started to play their own songs.
In 1997 they stooged for Mal (old beat singer really famous in Italy), they took part in two edition of the International Beat Festival (in 1998 and in 2004). They also played with artists like Rudi Protudi (Fuzztones), Chocolate Watch Band, Greg Moore (Gonn), Thanes, Others.

...Though I know of non of these bands they listed on their website it sounds impressive and yet another culture in a culture I am not aware of.

Favorite songs from their myspace (all downloadable!): Capelloni Noi and Inno Dei Flauers

The Sweet and Tenger Hooligans - The Mexican Morrissey!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

myspace.com/sweetandtenderhooligans
sweetandtenderhooligans.com

Formed in 1992, the Sweet and Tender Hooligans have gained local and international attention as the Ultimate Tribute to Morrissey and The Smiths. They have played for more audiences in more cities worldwide than any other Morrissey/The Smiths tribute band. They perform a song or two in Spanish which I'm sure is a huge hit since The Smiths/Morrissey has a huge latino following!

The band also received recognition as Best Cover Band in Los Angeles in the L.A. Weeklys Best of 2003 issue. Sweet & Tender Hooligans have also gained recognition by Morrissey himself, when he kicked off his 1999-2000 Oye Esteban world tour by announcing Hello, we are the Sweet & Tender Hooligans at his first show in Tempe, Arizona.

Lead singer Jose Maldonado (sometimes called "The Mexican Morrissey") appears in one of Morrissey's videos and also portrayed his hero in the feature film "My Life with Morrissey".

The title probably began when we played on the same night as El Vez [a Mexican Elvis impersonator]. The night was being billed as "The Mexican Elvis meets The Mexican Morrissey". He has translated "Lost" in Spanish and I hope that he gets to hear it someday. In addition to the aforementioned "Lost" he also translated "Last Night I Dreamt that Somebody Loved Me"

Los Abandonded - Indie rock from Cali!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

myspace.com/losabandoned
losabandoned.com

From Chile to Los Angeles to around the world and back again, LOS ABANDONED reunites the Casio keyboard with the electric guitar in their pop-rock-folk influenced sound. This fierce combo features the classically trained singer and bilingual punk rock diva LADY P. on vocals and ukulele, along with DON VERDE, co-songwriter and ace lead guitarist. With a rhythm section composed of the unstoppable VIRA LATA on bass and DULCE on drums, LOS ABANDONED has charmed the public and press with their high energy shows and charismatic stage presence. Featured in LA Times, O.C. & L.A. Weekly, El Mercurio (of Chile), TELEHIT, MTV Latin America, La Banda Elastica, Al Borde, La Opinion and LATV.

Songs I'm personally digging: Van Nuys, Como La Flor, Ojos, and Me Quieren En Chile (because she can sing "Puta Madre" so lovely)

Maria Daniela y su Sonido Lasser - Mexican cumbia electro pop!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

myspace.com/mariadanielaysusonidolasser

Since 2001, Sonido Lasser, created by Emilio Acevedo in Mexico City. Exploring music and in search of new talent he couldn't find much until he found the project by the lovely Maria Daniela, from Mexico City. Together, they created a cumbia electrónica song "Miedo"(Fear). The Mexican record label, Nuevos Ricos, now has them working together in what now is known as "Maria Daniela y su Sonido Lasser", Pop Electrónica for dancing like punk rawkers.
My two favorite songs are Miedo and Fiesta de Cumpleanos! Check em' out and you'll be boppin' like a little kid w/ a lollipop!
Espanol:

Naughty Zombies - Spanish Goth-Punks!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

myspace.com/naughtyzombies
naughtyzombies.tk

When they met at a Subtonix show in Portland, Oregon, Lilymunster Scalofrios and Hj Zombie decided to create a torment musical project called Naughty Zombies. A neurotic Robot named Markenstein joined the band to help them in their mission of dominating the world and cause panic wherever they play their terrifying music. From the disturbed minds of these two personalitys, mixed with the deranged musical concept of the Robot, comes an array of songs that will make the most psychotic listeners dreams come true. The first song on their myspace page is a cover song called Me gusta ser una zorra (I wanna be a bitch), from Las Vulpess, a famous all female punk band from Bilbao, Spain.

Short bio: Las Vulpes were an all female punk band and their song, Me gusta ser una zorra, caused a lot of gossip in Spain in the '80s. Just like The Doors when they performed on the Ed Sullivan show (singing the song, "Light My Fire"), Las Vulpes were asked not to sing the original lyrics when they performed on a Spanish television show. And just like The Doors the ladies broke the rules and sang every original lyric down to the last zorra (means fox or bitch)! The show was pulled off the air and never went back on again.(at least this is the version of the story I heard, haha)

So, back to Naughty Zombies...They are Punk, they are Goth, they are Hot, and they are Spaniards. They have a new 7"(only 300 available!) that came out in March '06 on Blondes Must Die Records. I just found about their new album so hopefully I can still buy a copy!!!

(Diplo signed) Bonde Do Role | Listen & stuff

BONDE DO ROLE

DIPLO
"Afew years ago, Diplo -- the genre-crushing Philadelphia DJ-producer and M.I.A. collaborator -- discovered funk carioca, the booming Miami bass-ish sound of Rio de Janeiro's shantytowns. 'It was, like, little children screaming about drugs over a Smiths loop and a breakbeat,' says Diplo, who regularly visits Brazil. 'I thought it was perfect music.' Bonde do Role, the first signing to his new Mad Decent label, have an art-school take on the sound (also known as baile funk), pairing the biggest, dumbest samples ever with comically dirty shout-rapped Portuguese lyrics..." [Rolling Stone says you better watch them] (J told me to watch them too)

LISTEN
Rolling Stone writes, "In complete disregard for U.S. copyright law, Bonde do Role (D'eyrot, 22, MC Marina Ribatski, 21, and producer and DJ Rodrigo Gorky, 25) pile super-recognizable samples -- AC/DC, the Grease soundtrack, Tone-Loc -- into an over-the-top party-starting mix" --FOUR SONGS STREAMING @ THEIR MYSPACE--

They have an EP. That's it pictured there to the right. It's got a Diplo remix on it, and the sleeve was designed by Nick Catchdubs.

NaNuchKa - NYC Gypsies by-way-of-Tel Aviv
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

myspace.com/nanuchka
nanuchka.com

Golgo Bordello meets Oingo Boingo meets Shakira meets Fiona Apple meets Danny Elfman. The best way for me to explain what I witnessed last night at The Annex in the Lower East Side.

Nanuchka's myspace page says NYC and their website says by-way-of-Tel Aviv. Gypsies, punks, vixens, party people lookin’ for a good time in the darkness of NYC nights? You'll just have to take my word for it until you get to see them yourself...

The show starts off with a weird little alien-like creature coming on stage (a guy in a black brimmed hat and a halloween mask with a black plastic bag wrapped around his forhead.) He mumbled into the mic and pointing to people out in the crowd as if he was looking for someone. Then he rolled around on the floor while a camera girl filmed it all.

The band finally makes their way on stage and begin playing with no stalls or last minute sound check. The singer, bassist, keyboardist, Nula stood front and center looking exotically sexy yet militantly strong and firm. Long flowing brown hair with fire red low lights and poison red lipstick that could kill. A traditional black asian dress w/ slits up the legs to her mid thigh and black shit-kicker knee-high boots. The guitarist, Roy Gurel, looked like son of the gypsy king with his long, black hair and mysterious mad-in love eyes. Wearing a black shirt w/ white pin stripes, black skinny pants, and black boots. The way he plucking away at his guitar effortlessly yet so perfect. The drummer, John Gurel, played deep cabaret rock-like beats. Looking sleek and conservative yet handsome and smart with a mischiefous smile.

Together they played wonderfully and kept the momentum up to a 10 throughout the show. Erie-yet-dancable bass lines, strong smoky vocals (sounded a bit like Shakira without the belly dancing, haha), a snappy guitar and deep drum beats, I felt like I was listening to a Tim Bertun movie soundtrack.

Go to their myspace page to listen to three great songs, my two favorite are "Red" and "Wonderful". I bet these gypsy princes and princess would get lots of luv from a Golgo Bordello audience. They get my full luv with ****! One thing I wish I could have heard in their sets: Hebrew and English lyrics. Now that would make them even hotter!

Sub Pop Signs Cansei De Ser Sexy (from CMJ.com)
Apr 11, 2006
Story by: Rebecca Raber

Sub Pop has added Brazilian dance rockers Cansei De Ser Sexy to their roster. The six-member band, whose name is Portuguese for Tired Of Being Sexy, is the Seattle label's first South American signing. Sub Pop will release their eponymous debut album, which was originally put out by TramaVirtual in Brazil, on July 11. Earlier this year, we named them On The Verge (in issue 137 of New Music Monthly) because we knew their pulsating synths, profane English lyrics and girlishly snotty delivery made them a band to watch. It seems someone at Sub Pop thought so too.

They worked hard in the kitchens.

They dreamed of rap superstardom.

Blasting out of the streets of Chinatown, the gates of Hell have opened and The Notorious MSG have been reborn with a vengeance. Servin' up deep-fried beats straight from the Chinese ghetto, they will not be stopped until they achieve complete musical destruction.

The Earth will tremble. The winds will roar. The chopsticks will shatter.

God help us all.

THE FADER to launch Japanese edition in September 2006!

website/blog

[Text from Advertising Age magazine] - The Fader, the hip emerging-music and lifestyle magazine that has been published in New York since 1996, has struck a deal to introduce Japanese edition due to appear on newstands this September 2006.
Because The Fader, an independent title that publishes eight times a year, struck a lincensing deal with Blues Interaction, a Japanese publishing company, the foray will become a new revenue center at the word go. Blues Interaction was able to win over The Fader, which has never published an international edition before, partly because of the company's commitment to music. In Japan, it publishes a music magazine called BMR, while a subsidiary called P-Vine distributes albums from independent American publishers like Matador Records.
"I had done a lot of due diligence on these types of deals," said Andy Cohn, publisher, The Fader. "I'd heard a lot of stories about the translation, which gets really messy. You think of the deals from a financial standpoint but it's really more important to think of the editorial translation. It can really damage the brand - it's a small world."
Fader Japan will comprise 70% translated material from The Fader and 30% original material, and will include advertising. In the U.S., advertisers include General Motors Corp., Heineken, Puma, Pepsi Cola Co. and Armani Exchange.
The Fader, Which claims unaudited paid circulation of 87, 500 in the U.S., anticipates more international editions ahead. "We're going to be announcing more of these deals down the road and it's given us a really good template for how to make these deals work from an editorial integrity standpoint," Mr. Cohn said. - Nat Ives (Advertising Age)
TIGARAH! Tokyo's version of MIA and Lady Sovereign coming to LA!

myspace.com/tigarah
tigarah.net

Tigarah found me on myspace about a few months back and I couldn't believe my ears...her music sounded like a mixture of MIA and Lady Sovereign but she was singing in English and Japanese!! Me being the foreign language lover, I wrote her and told her how much I was gushing over her stuff and that she needed to send me her demo. In a matter of a week or so I received a package in the mail w/ two demos and a press release:) I've been telling everyone who will listen about her!

Now she's in Cali, uh, wait, when are you coming to NYC then??!!! Hopefully soon:)
By the way, Tigarah's looking for management right now, supposedly talking to the manager of Goldfrapp...so if anyone's interested contact her guy, Manuel (AKA Mr. D - Beatmachine).

She'll be performing in LA on April 25th. Here's the details:

CANSEI DE SER SEXY! From Sao Paulo, Brazil Coming to America!

myspace.com/canseidesersexy
canseidesersexy.com

Cansei De Ser Sexy translations: TIred Of Being Sexy, is coming the USA in July 2006 and you better get your ass to see at least one of their shows!!!

Jul 19 2006 11:00P Avalon New York, NY
Jul 20 2006 11:00P Warsaw Brooklyn, NY
Note: Go to their myspace to see the rest of their USA dates.

Now I must say the locations are a bit weird and rather large for a band that even though I know are awesome, don't really have a USA following YET. But all the same, my friend Greg from Finger On The Pulse (thank you Greggy pants!) intruduced them to me and I've been hooked ever since!

A young group from Sao Paulo, with an electro-punk-funk-dancehall vibe goin' on that feels so good! Apparently the official press release translated from Portuguese reads pretty interesting in the English language, (text taken from CCS myspace) stating: "Taking the fact of not knowing how to play their instruments as a challenge for creativity, the group started to risk small shows in the night clubs that feed Sao Paulo underground."

Skip back to Sao Paulo, circa 2003: A band comes together not with any presumptions or typical formulas, but by meeting at clubs and photologs (some sort of social networking sites focused on sharing photos and video, and apparently quite popular in Brazil), deciding to try something new. They meet in basements. They plan. Without knowing how to play the instruments set before them, the experiment begins. One day, a girl forgets her guitar and is given the microphone instead, suddenly able to yell out. It fits. Eventually the group expands into six members strong, a combination of some girls with guitars and one guy trying out new drums; all steadily tumbling into their skills. Handclaps and one crappy keyboard, throwing in beats; tumbling and tumbling again. Fuelled by aggravation towards the empty swagger of faux artists, and to celebrate the un-celebrity, a name was chosen: CSS. "Lovefoxxx is a very gifted designer, Ana studies cinema, Ira is a fashion designer, Carolina works with graphic design. Luiza is in art school."

Fast forward to 2006: Over loose beats and quick programming, this group sings in Englishas opposed to their native language of Portuguese and claim that their scene is not Sao Paulo, but the internet. As evinced by "Meeting Paris Hilton" and "Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above," CSS makes unshakably clear its predilection for the glorification of pop culture. Between funky dancehall and keys that bubble and bounce, lead Lovefoxxx continues to yell and throws down vocals in a way that is wholly unafraidshameless in the best of waysand the rest is filled in with wire-thin guitars, swift drums and manic hooks. It is a thick, pulsating thing full of haphazard synths ("Alala") and a come-on of call and response that tears down any attempt at posturing ("Art Bitch," "Patins"). An album bursting with its own unique squeaks and pops, it is intensely urgent while remaining cohesive. With fully formed music and entirely fragmentary lyrics, they had truly arrived. "Each of these nights turns into an adventure. Everything can happen: plastic balls war between the band and the audience, stage divings, panties showing, male underwear threw to the stage (and back), people playing with their backs to the audience the entire show and even people playing seated on the floor in a rare anti-show position."

CSS's Cansei de Ser Sexy, or "Tired of Being Sexy," is their debut for Sub Pop. It is equal parts rock mantra and throwback into something new, transcending boundaries of genre and geography. It careers full speed into dance territory, into the unknown and untouched, to emerge all hot and bothered with wild electro-rock. Pretension? Absent. Friction? Probable. They are the un-pretension: unfinished, exposed, and throwing all they have right at you. It is quick, tightly-wound, unfastened and supreme. Not a sneer but a giggle. "Not only music, but a new way to live with it. An unfinished group that, unlike preserving itself until getting 'to the point,' was bravely showing off, turning everything into style."

Correct spelling; PR4VD4, formed in Paris circa 2003 exclusively to record Buzzcocks covers. (2 songs finally released on Label Mimikaki, Poitiers, France). Thought about calling themselves The Truth before deciding to adopt the much more explicit PRAVDA name, after which they lost many friends but gained plenty more!

They have now moved on to write their own songs and are playing gigs around Europe. Recorded and released Tu es à l'ouest (split vinyl single with infamous French rudesters KWARTZ /LE CHINOIS, 2005)

Los Super Elegantes are a unique punk-mariachi-hip-pop group from Los Angeles (via Tijuana and Buenos Aires). Milena Muzquiz and Martiniano Lopez-Crozet founded the group in 1995 and have mixed original music with theatrical stage improvisations in amusing live performances. Favorites of David Byrne and featured in Index, Interview, ArtForum and the Fader, their 2002 album "Channelizing Paradise" was praised for its quirky, entertaining riffs, and they performed in 2004 as part of the Whitney Biennial in New York and in the Frieze Art Fair in London. Los Super Elegantes have played with Beck, done a version of Nirvana's "Rape Me" in French, DJ'd throughout Europe and North and South America, and have received significant airplay on Indie 103.1, WFMU, and KCRW, on which they played live in 2001. The band is currently working on a new album that will be released in 2006.

The album is now available to download through iTunes, Napster, and other digital providers!

"Less 'rock band' than all-out 'experience,' a thoroughly modern hybrid that defies easy categorization." - The Fader

Some key tracks include: Telephone Dilemma # 10, Transpira Lo #2, Anfefetaminado #5, Santiago Song #8. Panico is on the French record label Tiger Sushi, go figure.

KARAOKE KILLED THE CAT?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
MONDAY NIGHTS • FREE • 10PM PIANOS (UPSTAIRS)

Yup, I went to a Karaoke night at Piano's last night for a going away party for a co-worker. Alot of people got wasted and started singing Guns n' Roses songs and Salt n' Peppa songs, but not me. I just stood by the side lines enjoying the attraction while taking embarrassing pictures. (I'm only putting some innocent pics on here).

If anyone is interested in going to this hillarious event here's a brief write up from Anthem Mag and more detailed info:Karaoke Killed The Cat site

"Karaoke" is a dirty word. Typically it evokes images of wooden, perfunctory performances by Asian businessmen or housewives shrieking their way through Cher's "If I Could Turn Back Time" while slugging back appletinis. Sure you may have done it at your cousin's wedding or at the Polish bar down the street on a drunken dare, but you wouldn't want your friends to see you. Just like enjoying elimiDATE or Ralph Nader though, sometimes you need reassurance from a more confident source to validate your guilty pleasure. Here's where Chris Ehrmann can help... - Anthem Magazine

Monday, April 10, 2006

This past Saturday night I went by Element with my friend Marcelo and his girlfriend, to see a very entertaining performance by TORREMOTO de ALCORCON, "the Flamenco Madonna of Spain" who performed her # 1 hit "Time Gous by con Loli"...

Image hosting by Photobucket

We were expecting to see a drag queen, not sure why, but this lady has real boobies, and a woman's voice so it just couldn't have been. See put on a great little number and the regular crowd of sweaty, gay men loved her! For a bunch of super gay men they sure took a liking to me and Marcelo's girlfriend and kept slapping our asses! I wonder if she's actually popular in Spain...I bet the popular transvestite party in Madrid called En Plan Tranvesti loves her!!
